Privacy Policy

Optimal Shopping is a sole proprietorship that operates optshopping.com. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We keep it short and plain — no unnecessary legal filler.

We collect only what we need to provide the service:

• Email address — when you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple. We use this to identify your account and send essential service communications (such as password resets).
• Location (optional) — a ZIP code or approximate location you choose to enter, used to show you nearby store prices. We do not track your GPS or precise physical location without explicit consent.
• Shopping list items — the search terms and shopping list data you enter are stored in your account so the service can function across sessions.
• Basic usage data — standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). This is collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure and is used solely for security and debugging purposes.

We do not collect payment information, Social Security numbers, government-issued ID, or any other sensitive personal data. Optimal Shopping has no paid tier at this time.

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Deliver and improve the core features of the service (price comparison, shopping list optimization).
• Respond to your support requests or inquiries.
• Send essential service communications (e.g., account confirmation, security alerts). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in.
• Monitor for abuse, security threats, or violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties — ever.

We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Supabase — our authentication and database provider. Your email and account data are stored on Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase processes data in accordance with their own privacy policy and is SOC 2 compliant. We use Supabase solely as a data processor on our behalf.
• Legal obligations — we may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Optimal Shopping or others.

We use cookies and browser local storage to maintain your login session and remember preferences (such as your stored location). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will log you out of your account.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal information from our active systems within a reasonable period (typically 30 days), except where retention is required by law or for legitimate security purposes.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication flows provided by Supabase, and access controls that limit who can view user data.

That said, no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws (such as GDPR in the European Economic Area or CCPA in California). These may include the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
• Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data, so this is already the case).

Optimal Shopping is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will notify you via email where practicable.
